Do What You Love or Do What You’re Great at?

By October 5, 2012Uncategorized

I say BOTH.

I believe that we tend to be innately and purposely skilled at doing what we love. We are drawn to the careers and things that we love. Often getting off track somewhere until our lives can’t take it anymore and we become burned-out, exhausted, depressed, anxious and OVER it. So back full circle we go–Trying to reconnect with the things that light us up.

I often see confusion coming up with people who are burnt-out and trying to reinvent themselves. There is a lack of clarity in trying to find themselves again. Jumping around trying to find the answers, becoming overloaded with information, ideas and bad advice and abandoning what they are great at and already know to jump into something that they think they love and will try to start over.

The MBTI and Strong Interest Inventories are great tools and I find that many people are validated and reaffirmed with their results–and often already doing what they love, they just need to modify their path.
